DiscoverE.org is partnering with NAF to bring their highly engaging and very popular Future City Competition to high schools.
Future City is an authentic learning project where students imagine, research, design, and build cities of the future.
Planning Tools for Educators: a series of resources designed to support educators in effectively implementing authentic project-based learning assignments. This collection of planning tools equips teachers with the necessary frameworks and templates to streamline project planning, organization, and assessment, ensuring a seamless and successful project-based learning experience for educators and students.
These resources encourage and support students on their learning journey by providing opportunities to deepen their knowledge, feed their passion, build their Future Ready skills, and deepen their career identity through NAF's "Take Charge of Your Learning" framework of REFLECT, STRETCH, INNOVATE, and SHOWCASE.

Mentors play a crucial role in guiding a successful project cycle. Two levels of industry/community support can be implemented.
Partner Engagement Projects Partner engagement projects are extended learning projects, generally less than 40 hours that allow students to explore genuine industry and real-world challenges and provide students with an authentic learning experience while being guided by an industry professional. The industry professional is not required to provide the challenge but will offer support through project mentoring that includes supervising project development and problem-solving through intentional feedback and connection.
Mentored Industry Projects Mentored industry projects provide authentic learning experiences in which students connect with industry mentors to address challenges and solve problems in a community or industry. Industry mentors guide project work, offering feedback and direction throughout the project process. Students develop skills through professional interactions and understand connections between classroom content and their career aspirations.
